Malaysia → Southeast Asia → Indian Ocean → Africa → South America → Chile

The narrative of our world, looked upon from the sea.

“La narrativa de nuestro mundo mirada desde el mar.”

Sailing a small yacht from Southeast Asia to Chile, a multi-year, multi-ocean voyage documented in real time. Perspectiva is the story of what the world looks like when you arrive by water instead of by air.

The concept

Most people land in the world.
We arrive from the water.

The usual way to see a country is airport, hotel, attraction, airport. Perspectiva reverses that sequence: the ocean becomes the throughline of the story, not the gap between destinations.

Four friends — Juan Carlos, Alberto, Ignacio, and Pedro — take a ~50-foot sailing yacht from Malaysia across the Indian Ocean, around Africa, across the South Atlantic, and down through Patagonia to Chile.

The route loosely retraces one of the oldest sea roads in the history of exploration, through the strait that first connected the Atlantic and the Pacific five centuries ago.

We built this backwards, on purpose.

Most ventures start with a market, a client or a gap to fill, and add passion later if there is room. We started with a dream between friends and sent it anyway, with every doubt still on board. Courage is acting while the fear is still there. We are pursuing what we love exactly as it is, without shaping it around what is easier or safer to pitch. That instinct gave the project its name: looking at the world without the usual paradigms, a perspective almost no one chooses. The ocean does not negotiate with convenience, and neither did we.

The crew

Four friends, one voyage

A small, deliberately minimalistic core crew with high ambitions.

Juan Carlos Trupp

Juan Carlos Trupp

Crew · Expedition Lead

Never wanted the day to end as a kid — the only thing on his mind at bedtime was how early he'd be allowed to wake up and start again, already restless to explore. That same energy now holds the whole project together: route, sponsors, entity setup, and the crew's motivation, all at once.

Alberto Gonzalez

Alberto Gonzalez

Crew · Lead Sailor

Based in Chile and the most experienced sailor on board — competitive, determined, and not built for anything that feels like a leash. Family lore says it started early: he once slipped out of daycare as a toddler just to walk the streets and watch the sky alone.

Ignacio Diaz

Ignacio Diaz

Crew · Sponsor Relations

The oldest of three and the calmest person in almost any room — family legend has him calmly asking his mom what was going on as an allergic reaction set in, no panic at all. Warm, easygoing, and sharp, he loves animals and feels most himself when connected to nature. He's the one linking Perspectiva with its sponsors.

Pedro Dittborn

Pedro Dittborn

Crew · Social Media & Onboard Content

Grew up drawn to the screen — acting, TV, eventually getting involved with audiovisual content creation. Outspoken and fiercely loyal (school nicknamed him "la furia" for a reason), he defends what he believes in and doesn't sit quietly. Running Perspectiva's social media and the onboard conversations.

    Benchmarked against real deals

The closest real comparison we found: Atlantic Ocean rowing challenge crews — amateur, self-funded teams selling sponsorship before departure, much like us. One published package (HMS Oardacious, four Royal Navy submariners) lines up closely with our own tiers, even though their crossing lasts about a month against our 12–18+.

    £1,000–£5,000  their Bronze tier
£5,000–£10,000  their Silver tier — matches our Official Partner almost exactly
